Why birthFUND100 Exists

The U.S. is facing a maternal-health crisis that is claiming the lives of mothers at rates higher than any developed nation. Black mothers are three to four times more likely to die during childbirth. Too many are dismissed, discharged too soon, or left to navigate emergencies alone.

birthFUND 100 is our answer.

When pregnant and postpartum mothers face crisis, immediate and flexible support will be deployed. This includes essential needs like transportation to appointments, groceries due to the rising levels of food insecurity, emergency support for those displaced by climate disasters or furloughs, and resources across the full spectrum of social determinants of health.

Washington

Every movement needs a first mover.

As our inaugural Impact Partner, Kerry is rallying the first twenty five champions and helping shape this list into a cultural moment, not just a fundraising effort.

She knows what it means to stand in the gap for mothers, not only on screen but in real life. Her leadership sets the bar for what it looks like to use your platform, resources, and influence for maternal justice.

A Collective Effort With Collective Power

Why the Rapid Response Fund Matters

The Rapid Response Fund is designed to respond to the full ecosystem of maternal health. It recognizes that birth outcomes are shaped not only by clinical care, but by the social, economic, structural, and environmental conditions that surround a mother’s life.

  • Income, insurance, and the ability to afford care

  • Safe housing, transportation, food access, and environmental hazards

  • understanding options, risks, and rights

  • networks that carry mothers through crisis

  • culturally competent care, midwifery access, and respectful treatment

  • laws and systems that either protect or endanger mothers
